Don't forget that if anyone researches the history on Ekos it's a lot older than Avatar. Even if JC does claim that he wrote it years and years ago there was nothing published about it until the few years leading up to it's cinematic debut - whereas Ekos has publishings going all the way back to when MT announced Aspen Studios in Wizard and gave fans the option to vote what came first. I still have that wizard issue.

In all honesty Avatar to me was more of a ripoff of MT's Ekos - he probably saw that it wasn't going to be made for years and developed a similar story and bs'd his speech about not having the right FX to make it - that's what CGI is for isn't it?

But even going against that argument - who cares if people think it's a ripoff or if it was ripped off - both will have definite unique character development and underlying storylines that separate them from eachother uniquely. I find that's the problem with the creative world these days - everything is a comparison to something else instead of letting it be appreciated as it's own entity. Which is how it should be appreciated in the first place.

Why are we still discussing Avatar? And why are you accusing of James Cameron of ripping off Turner? That's a pretty strong accusation based off of nothing.

Can we just talk about Ekos and leave Avatar out of this?

Avatar's not a rip of Ekos. Ekos is not a rip of Avatar. Ekos was thought up and invented nearly 8 years ago. Avatar was invented nearly 12 years ago. Entirely independently.

Let's not tread down that slippery slope of comparison accusations and theft innuendos, and more importantly assuming all ideas are immediate and all sources of influence shared. They were developed independently and without either's knowledge of or further influencing the other.
