Ok so why cant we get any real discussions goin on in these forums? The creators hardly ever respond to questions so whats the point of even posting? I would really like it if there was an legit effort made to connect to us the fans on here since we are the ones putting down our hard earned money for these books. thank you.

The forums are dead. They have been for a while.
Aspen's on facebook and twitter though, why not ask your questions there? They're pretty good about responding.

The Aspen crew does really care about their fans. If you go to a convention and meet them you'll really know that. Barak85 is right, sadly everything has shifted to Facebook and Twitter. Facebook has all the activity now, and thus, the boards are dead.
I suppose you could ask them on Facebook about why they haven't taken the boards down, but I would guess that it's because they could always get popular again and they have the site already up for sales and contact info.

How's it a waste of resources? They don't take up any valuable space, they're not in the way, and they're not annoying anyone -they're just here. Very much like opinions on the Internet -they exist, don't hurt anyone and are free for everyone to share if they feel like. =)
And, if FB and Twitter ever malfunctions for a lengthier period of time we know where to go.
(Also, from a purely business-wise point of view it's better to have the site as well as the community/boards, because it generates twice as much probability of people finding Aspen than having just the site.)

I haven't been here in a long time, but I still come by now and then.
I don't really trust things like facebook, twitter, etc, due to bad experiences.
Mostly relating to email address scamming and 100123 irrevalent "friend" requests from people I've never even heard of trying to increase their friend count.
So for me, the forum is where it's at.
And as an aside, where's Ekos?
With all the new intellectual properties on the table as it were, is there no room for one of Aspen's oldest concepts?
