I just got issue 4 of Fathom.
And one thing strikes me as odd.
Aspen and an enemy soldier grab each other by the throat, in essence they're trying to strangle each other.
But what puzzles me is why the issue is depicting this as something that can defeat a water dweller.
First and foremost, it has been stated that Aspen has 5 times the lung capacity of an olympic swimmer.
Which means in a mexican standoff situation like this, her foe will run out of breathable air long before she does!
And I'm not sure if this is within her abilities, but it may be. Given that she's a waterborn, she most likely has the ability to extract oxygen from water via immersion and absortion (some airbreathing marine species have this ability and use it to add extra oxygen to their internal stored supplies). So, if this is true, fighting her underwater just gives her that much more extra oxygen to "breathe".
