I'll PM the answer as it can be lengthy. SDCC was very different in a wheelchair, but it was great seeing everyone and I LOVED the weather.

So does anyone have any advice on how to get tickets to next years convention in San Diego? I would like to go, but know it is tough to get them?

They changed a lot around this year, so you're not the only one. Many experienced SDCC-goers don't know what's going on either.
There's a short text up on Comic-Con's website about it. But it's for returning attendees.
I do, think, however that the best first step is to get a member ID. They introduced that this year in order to get a badge, regardless of whether you're a pro or a regular attendee. So, start with that and try and keep yourself up to date.
